"My story began in September 1978 when I was involved in a severe car accident that nearly cost me my foot. During surgery, a pin was placed in my ankle, but I could never fully flatten my foot on the floor. Then, in 2010, I was told I needed an ankle fusion due to osteoarthritis. Although the fusion worked, over time, osteoarthritis developed in all joints in my right foot, especially in the midfoot, leading to worsening pain each year.
As time went on, my left foot and both knees became arthritic from compensating for my right side. I love spending time outdoors, and it was becoming increasingly frustrating. I’d often tell my husband that I wouldn’t use a mobility scooter until I was at least 70. But after searching for a long time, I discovered your website and was captivated by a video of someone in London using one of your scooters. I had been trying hard to find a scooter that would fit in my BMW convertible—a gift from my husband seven years earlier—and was thrilled when I finally found one.
We visited Cavendish Healthcare in Torquay, Devon, and they recommended the ATTO Sport. When I saw that it would fit in the trunk of my car (in two parts), I broke down in tears—I’d waited so long for this moment.
Without a scooter, one of my biggest challenges was visiting the places I loved. I wanted to enjoy time with my wonderful family and grandchildren, but I felt I was letting them down.
